Reading 12

 FINISHED, YAY!

I am so happy to see the end of this semester, To be honest I struggled a lot during these few weeks just with being so busy in my personal life trying to juggle everything, but I am so happy to be finished now.

Work wise I did enjoy this semester more than last as I felt the modules suited me better. With saying that, I did find this module quite tough as I wouldn't be the best at written work, but I tried my best.

It's great to see all the hard work from everyone put together in one book and it is pretty cool to have. Looking through the book the one thing I noticed the most and really stood out was the visuals, they all looked great.

Happy to be free from college work for the next few months but feeling satisfied with what we have achieved.

Reading Week 9

This week we had to give two other classmates feedback on their annotated bibliography's and they gave me feedback.

I enjoyed this exercise as it was nice to read other peoples work and see what they're writing about. It was also good to be able to give some positive feedback as I know its a great confidence booster.

As for getting feedback on my own work, I was very grateful for that as it is good to get a second opinion off an outsider reading your posts. It also helped me see little mistakes that I wouldn't have noticed myself and gave me a good insight on what I have to work on. Which was when I was writing my bibliography's I wrote them as if it was my own opinion even though I was actually getting the information from google scholar.

Overall I found this task very helpful and productive.

Unity Tutorial 07

This week is our final week of doing unity tutorials, which I am so so happy about! Although, I did find find this semester easier in terms of unity which was good and made me feel like I was definitely improving!

Anyway, in this weeks tutorial I learned all about 2d sound and how it doesn't change anywhere whereas 3d sound (which we also learned about in this weeks tutorial) does change with the camera movements and where the camera is located in the game. It was so cool to learn about sound within a game as I never really thought about it before.

Overall I found this weeks tutorial very enjoyable and probably the easiest one yet, a nice way to end! I also found this whole semester a lot more enjoyable in terms of this module as I was more aware of what needs to be done and the standard of that. Within saying that, I am happy that this is our last tutorial and I feel like a little weight as been lifted now.

Reading 06

For this weeks reading task we were assigned two people that we had to give feedback to on their annotated bibliography's and they both had to give me feedback on mine.

I only got feedback from one person and I found what they said very helpful and the constructive. I found this helped me see what I needed to fix and what was good with what I had written and will take on board this feedback. Overall I am happy with what they said and I am glad for this task.

Unity 06

In this weeks unity tutorial we learned all about visual styling and word interactions. This was fun and a useful task to learn about (thank god!)

The first thing we learned was how to use a rest tool to place elements and enlarge them or make them smaller so it can work with different scales.

The second tutorial was word interactions. In this tutorial we learned about Raytracing. We learned that it detects things in the game like colliders.

Overall this weeks tutorials were fun and interesting but I am still not a huge fan of game design so I am looking forward to no more unity 😅

Unity Tutorial 5

In this weeks unity tutorial we started learning new things, which was fun as its always cool to learn new things. We learned how to use a camera which was great because we only ever used the static one before.

We had to first download the cinematic package and go from that. I enjoyed doing this as I actually enjoy doing precious and tedious work (not sure why!) Anyway it was cool and a good skill to learn.

For the second tutorial this week (Visual Styling Particles) I found a bit more difficult and although I said I like tedious work, I got confused with this. Eventually I got the blast  of smoke to work but it did take me some time and  a lot of patience 😅 In saying that, I like to be challenged and I do feel like I may be improving from week to week which is great.

Unity Tutorial 04

In this weeks unity tutorial I learned how to move the robots around from side to side. This was a cool thing to learn as I would have never thought of doing them that way, I probably would have found a much more difficult way to do it and made it harder for myself! Also found this weeks code ok, which is good.

I also learned how to duplicate sprites which was also cool because I had never done something like this before.

Every week I find myself improving a tiny bit more and disliking it a bit less as I am improving and learning each week. Although I know unity is not for me, I am glad that I have the opportunity and I am enjoying the experience and learning new skills!

Reading 04 Analysis

For this week I have been continuing on with my annotated bibliography's. So far I have only completed 6 as I am researching a good bit before I start them as I want them to be interesting and worth reading. Although they are tricky and time consuming I am finding them genuinely interesting and its fun to learn about some health benefits and mental benefits mobile gaming devices can have on various people.

I am so glad I chose the topic of Mobile Devices as I am finding the information really interesting.

Unity Tutorial 03

So far like last semester I have been finding unity tough, I just cant quite get the hang of it. Although some tutorials are easier than the others and I do feel I am improving a bit its just not really my thing. I will keep going and trying and see how it goes.

Anyway, this week I learned how to allow ruby go through the metal cube sprite without colliding with those metal cubes, which was cool and I didn't find overly hard. I also learned how to set the pivot of the sprite so we can rotate it.

Overall I am continuing to work on my unity skills and I am hoping that I improve as the semester goes on!

Reaction to readings

When we were first told about this, to be honest I was confused and slightly overwhelmed on what was being asked of us, and to be honest I wasn't even sure of what an annotated bibliography was.

In saying this, after joining the lecture and listening on what we have to do and watching the video on it, I have a good bit more of an understanding on what is being asked of me and I know I can always go back to the multimedia website to look for guidance!
